Which List are you on ?

We all have friends. Some very old, some old and some new. If we notice, over a period of time the circle of friends we keep in touch on a regular basis changes. Very rarely, does an old friend make it to the new list/circle. The same happens with family members too. The reasons are many and we could debate for decades. But I would like to highlight one of the critical reason ignored by lot of us.

Its CHANGE and the speed of transition. Each of us are evolving at a certain speed. And this speed is directly proportional to that of our peer group or COI (circle of Influence). The main reason why some of us get left behind and are not able to make it to the new lists of our friends is simple. We are either too slow or too fast. If we are too fast, it’s really great for us. We are evolving fast. But the challenge is if we are too slow……we’ll soon become Dinosaurs.

A few check points to see how to analyze where we are ?

You are in the SLOW LIST if –

-       The people you meet/hangout/live with have been doing the same routine since many months, years.

-       The people in your SLOW list have been spending their weekends in the same way since ages.

-       The people in your SLOW list have the same car, bike since more than 3 yrs.

-       The people in your SLOW list have been talking about the same topics at coffee or social gatherings. (politics, boss, employees etc.)

-       The people in your SLOW list make you feel life is meant to be happy with what you have for yourself. (usually don’t bother about what their family wants)

-       The people in your SLOW list always post others quotes/learning  as Facebook/twitter status.

-       Will give you one line answers if asked “what have you learnt in the last 5 years of your life ?”.

-       The people in your SLOW list always crib about things not right in their office, home, society, state, country. Basically ACTIVE members of the Crib Club.

-       The people in your SLOW list read books that add no value to their character/attitude/intellect.

-       The people in your SLOW list never keep time commitment.

-       The people in your SLOW list have an excuse ready as a backup.

This list could actually go on…………

You are in the FAST LIST if –

-       The people in your FAST list are crazy. Do things that the slow list people laugh at.

-       The people in your FAST list change with time and upgrade their challenges. They have bigger challenges every time.

-       The people in your FAST list live by the second. They are always on time or even before.

-       The people in your FAST list have new information every time you meet them. Even if it mean several meets in a single day.

-       The people in your FAST list have a never dying hunger for Knowledge and opportunities to implement it.

-       These people will never let you sit idle. They will keep you on toes and are always willing to help.

-       The people in your FAST list  always inspire you to do things which are beyond your mindset.

These were just a few that I could think of. However few points in the slow list are debatable and are generic. Now that we have an idea of the SLOW and the FAST I would like to ask you all a question.

We all agree that if we don’t change with time we would become Dinosaurs. My question to you is ……. If one became a dinosaur, which obviously means primitive, the stories or info on which is found in Museums,

Would you go to see them every day at the museums ?

If you answer is YES, well you’re one among them.

And if NO, then what makes you think that your friends who’ve evolved and evolving faster will meet you or keep in touch everyday ?

Mind You ! There is no relationship in this world where 2 people evolving slow and fast can be together for a long time. Divorces, Old Age Homes etc are the result of this very reason.

Now that some of us agree to the above theory, go tell your friends as to which list they belong to. This is not something to show people down. I’m sure I’m on the slow list of many around here , but this just tells me whom should I be spending more time with and learning from.

Spend most time with the Fast List. We live in times of SPEED. From 64Kbps in 2000 to 16MBPS today @ home.

Gain SPEED !

Take care & Take Charge
